Love Equally

Yesterday was a very interesting day for me.. I have a younger sister who is pansexual,  and I decided to go with her to Pride for support.  This was my very first time attending a pride festival and surprisingly it was a lot of fun. In a weird way it was exciting to see how the LGBTQ community has such support and passion for each other. Everyone there was so friendly and trusting. It was very refreshing to be part of something so genuine. I have always been open minded but, after yesterday, I have a new found respect for LGBTQ. They take so much negativity on a daily basis and are constantly judged but, instead of taking that and being cold and negative right back, they celebrate who they are because they love themselves, and at the end of the day that’s all that really matters. I know a lot of people don’t agree with this type of lifestyle but, the way I see it is, it doesn’t really effect you, unless you are the one in the relationship. The intent of this post is not to persuade anyone but, simply to express my point of view and share my experiences.

Summertime Shenanigans

So this week has been kind of crazy for me. I expected when summer rolled around I would have a lot more time for second life but, these days it just seems like everything keeps coming up. I have been spending some time with family, which is much needed. My mom and sister live about an hour away so I don’t get to see them often. I am really close to my family so it’s super depressing when I go weeks without seeing them. My current roommate was going away for a week, so I invited my family to come for an extended visit. It has been awesome! I forgot how fun it is to spend time with them and have people around who love you.

I am also in the process of moving, so having them here has been a lot of help. I have moved a lot in my life, 19 times to be exact…. and I am only 23. So long story short I hate moving!  You think that I would be good at it by now but, sadly I just seem to be accumulating more stuff. I have so many random things I don’t know what to do with it all, so I have decided to start getting rid of things. I thought this would make the process easier but, it seems to just be a lot more work. From now on I am making a promise to myself that if I ever move again, I am hiring someone to do it for me!

Sassy Unicorn

 

As you can tell from my picture today, I have been hitting the Arcade pretty hard. I love every few months when it comes around. The thrill of trying to get and get what you want is very intense and gets your adrenalin pumping. Every time this event comes around I know personally I like to get a sneak peek of what’s coming out, a lovely blog named seraphim never fails to deliver this for me. My friends and I always like to check out what we want before we head into the madness of trying to get into the sim (or if you’re like us you shop from the surrounding sims). As you all know trying to get the color item you want can sometimes be a challenge and very hard on your second life (and possibly real life) wallet. I know personally I tried 30 times to win my best friend the Paris tent from the floor plan gatcha. Well today I found a way you can get some of that money back into your pocket, and some of the unwanted duplicates out of your inventory, it’s called second life yard sales. I didn’t even know this was a possibility but, so far I have made over 1000L back. All you have to do is find a yard sale you like, look up the rules and place your item out for sale. It is a great way to get some money back and also a great way to get items that you want without having to try a bunch of times at the gatch machines.  Until next time may the odds be ever in your favor.

Don’t Judge a Book by its Cover

This post is going to be short and sweet. I noticed that Eshe’s post seemed to be the talk of the town today on and off of  Second life. When things have bad reviews in both second life and real life I always like to check them out for myself. I don’t want this post to come off as “Everyone on Word Salad has jumped on a bandwagon” because that is not the case. I just wanted to say that I decided to get myself a pair of Ikon eyes. Attached is a completely unphotoshoped picture and I have to say this is one of the best purchases I have ever made! These eyes light up without even an ounce of work. So to those of you at Ikon, Keep up the good work! Hates gonna hate; and for those of you reading the hate no matter what it is always try things for yourself.

Sorry not Sorry

First of all I want to apologize that I have been kinda missing in action. The title of this post has nothing to do with my absence. I have been handling some personal real life things but, I should be around a lot more often. So today I want to talk about a side of me that I am not sorry for. I can be the biggest nerd sometimes. Even though I am 23 years old I love to do silly kid things, Like coloring and blowing bubbles. I am not much of a reader but, when I do read I can’t put books down till I have finished the series, and most of all I am what I like to call a Netflix addict. I love to start watching shows after they have been on for a while then watch every episode ever until I have complete the entire show in a short few days or weeks. Lately I have been in more of a movie mood then a show mood so I decided to play catch up on some  movies my friends keep ragging on me about. In particular, The Harry Potter series. I have loved Harry Potter since I was a kid but, since i am not much of a reader I never took the time to read all the books and I never finished the movies, so until a few days ago I was completely clueless.

This weekend I decided to educate myself and watch all 8 movies in 2 days. My actual goal was to watch them all in one sitting but, I crashed after the first 5. All I can say is WOW, this story is amazing and now all I want to do is find my old collection and sit down and read my heart out for days. From day one I was hoping that Severus Snape would end up being a good guy but, after he killed Dumbledore all my hope was lost on him. I was pleasantly surprised to find in the end my wish came true. I don’t want to give too much away for those of you who haven’t had the opportunity to see/ read this series but, my inner nerd now wants to go on a road trip to Harry Potter World in Florida…. Anyone wanna come? (Please feel free to leave any comments or fan fiction)

Overall I am a huge nerd at heart and I am far from ashamed. We are all different in our own ways but, I find that everyone has their quirks about them and overall everyone is a little weird or nerdy in their own way 🙂

Summertime Sadness

Today I’m kinda having a down day. Summer should be a fun relaxing time but, summer for me just means loneliness. All my friends have gone home for the summer and my two best friends live out of state/country. So that leaves me with Second Life. I guess sometimes it can be a blessing in disguise. I have so many good friends here that keep me entertained and laughing. The fact that my best friends also play sl is a major bonus cuz; at least we can “be together” in some form. I hope all of you are having a good summer and I promise my post tomorrow will be more upbeat.

I didn’t have much time to blog today so I figured I would jump on the bandwagon and let you in on my personal life. So here it is my Second Life guilty pleasures.

#1 Shopping.     As I have mentioned before I love to shop but, I have a major Second Life shopping addiction. If there’s sale I am there, if there is something new I buy it and, I upload linden like its my job. I enjoy having nice things in second life and I cant help it if there are so many beautiful things to buy. The ironic thing about this guilty pleasure is I am not a materialistic person in real life.

#2 Boys.     This may come as a surprise since I made a post yesterday questing second life relationships but, I love boys. I like meeting new people on second life because, its always a mystery. You never know who you may run into in this crazy virtual world. Sometimes people can surprise you, it also helps if they put work into their avi.

#3 Perv Camming.    I am the queen of the perv cam. I love to look at anyone and everyone. I like to see what people are wearing, how much work they put into their avatar, and find out any interesting facts they may have in their profile. I promise I’m not a creeper but, if your gonna put it out there I’m going to notice 😀

#4 My wireless headset.   90% of the time I am on voice either  in a private call, local chat or skype.  Unless my headset happens to be charging when I go afk I always just mute my mic and walk around the house whit my headset still on. You may be surprised what things you hear if you ever decide to do this! It can be funny, interesting and sometimes, disturbing.

#5 Talking about Sex.   Two of my friends and I tend to always be online very late at night and some how the topic of sexually explicit things ALWAYS pops into the conversation. I am no prude and I am not afraid to admit that I love these talks. It is very interesting to hear about things from the perspective of the  opposite sex.  Let’s just say, I have learned a lot.

Speaking of guilty pleasure, I want to talk about the most taboo guilty pleasure in Second Life, relationships. Many people come to second life to act out their fantasies in the virtual world but when and where does it cross the line? Many people who are involved in relationships in the virtual world have a real connection to the person they are involved with. Real feelings are involved and most of these relationships go beyond the computer screen. I have heard tons of people claim to be in a second life only relationship, so I propose the question, is this possible? Once you have any contact outside of the Second Life window screen, weather its Skype, Facebook or even texting you relationship is no longer “just SL”. With that being said, if your relationship now goes beyond Second Life does that make it real and if so, how do you know who you are really dating?

In Second Life we can look and dress however we want. We can choose to give out real information about ourselves or we can create a more interesting life in our own imaginations. How do you know what you can trust? The simple answer is you don’t. So if there is no trust can there be a relationship in the first place? Many of you have heard of or seen the show Catfish on MTV; I have heard rumors of Second Life being part of the upcoming Season 2. In all honesty I think it’s the perfect show for Second Life to be a part of. So many people fabricate parts of their lives in Second life, which is fine until it affects other people.

Over all to those of you in Second life relationships, be kind to one another. Think about how what you do and say can affect the people you claim to care deeply about. Be honest with yourself and each other. One last thing, try really hard not to end up on MTV 😛

Meet The Writers- Part Three- Delilah

Surprise! The lovely Asmen and Eshe have decided to add me to the table. My name is Delilah and I am excited to be contributing to this salad. I am also a Second Life addict; I have passion for fashion and music. Expect most of my post to include lyrics and clothes. I am 23 years old and about to start my senior year of college. I see this as bitter sweet because, the real world can be scary. I have been in Second Life for about 4 years now and on Delilah for about a year now.  I have learned a lot about myself while in SL, I have made some of my best friends here and I am excited to get to know Asmen and Eshe better through this process.
